With porcelain veneers, we can correct teeth that are gapped or discolored or teeth that are not aligned properly. With veneers, you can take your smile from dull to dazzling in just a couple of visits to the dentist.

Call Naylors Court Dental Partners today and find out if porcelain veneers are right for you.

What Are Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are wafer-thin shells of porcelain your dentist bonds directly to the surface of the teeth that show when you smile. These translucent tooth covers look completely natural because they have the same reflective quality as teeth. Veneers can change the position, shade, and shape of your teeth, greatly enhancing the look of your smile.

Since they are so thin, your dentist will remove only a small amount of your natural tooth structure before placing the veneers. But even this small amount of preparation means that veneers are a permanent cosmetic treatment.

When they are in place, veneers feel just like your natural teeth. The porcelain surface of veneers is smooth and glossy, making them feel very natural to your lips and tongue.

In just two visits to our office, you can have teeth with the shape and color of your choice, which feel natural and brighten your smile.  Please see our photo gallery for examples of some of our happy patients.

How Does the Procedure Work?

After you come in for a consultation, your dentist will work with you to determine the correct size, color, and shape of your veneers.

The first step in placing the veneers is to remove a small amount of the surface of your teeth to make room for them. This means some of the enamel will need to be polished from your teeth so the veneers bond seamlessly with your natural teeth, ensuring that the final result will not appear bulky.

Once your veneers are put in place, your dentist will make adjustments as needed to ensure that they are comfortable and you can bite down properly.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers

Care for your veneers just as you would your natural teeth: Brush and floss regularly, and visit your dentist twice a year for examinations and cleanings. Veneers are resistant to stains, so your smile will stay bright and white. Whitening toothpaste is not needed or recommended as it can damage the surface of your veneers.

Just as you shouldn’t use your natural teeth as tools, the same holds true for veneers. They are strong and durable, but you should not bite into anything that is not food.
