When it comes to whitening your teeth, there are hundreds of products that say they offer a whiter smile from chewing gum to whitening strips, which can make finding the best treatment difficult. Yet, in-office whitening procedures will always be able to offer better, faster, and safer results than over the counter products. That is why Naylors Court Dental Partners offers the Zoom Whitening treatment to their patients in the Pikesville, MD area.

What is Zoom Whitening?

The Zoom! Whitening treatment uses a light-activated whitening gel to remove deep stains from the enamel of your teeth. The hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel is broken down and causes oxygen to enter the enamel and bleach out discoloration. The activation light allows the hydrogen peroxide to penetrate the surface of your tooth more efficiently, making it over thirty percent more effective than non-light procedures. Zoom Whitening has also been shown to whiten your teeth up to eight shades in a single treatment.

How Long is the Treatment?

The in-office Zoom Whitening procedure only takes a little over an hour including the short preparation time so your gums and mouth are protected for the activation light, an hour long whitening treatment, and five-minute-long post-whitening fluoride treatment. It is best to have the treatment done shortly after a cleaning so there isn’t any plaque or tartar in the way, which can cause uneven whitening.

Maintenance After the Procedure

To keep your teeth from becoming discolored again after the procedure, we offer an at-home kit as well. Your dentist will make custom fitted trays for you to use with the at-home treatment alongside our professional strength gel. The at-home treatment can be used for four to eight hours at a time, so you can whiten your teeth while you sleep, and has been shown to whiten your teeth another six shades after about three uses.
